ABOUT RED SOVINE

Country music singer who sang truck-driving songs, including "Teddy Bear," which was released in 1976.

He learned how to play guitar from his mother when he was young. One of his first music appearances was on WWVA-AM, singing in the duo Smiley and Red, the Singing Sailors, with his friend, Johnnie Bailes.

He became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1956.

He was married to his wife Norma until her death in 1976.

Webb Pierce helped him early on in his music career by convincing him to join the Wondering Boys, which led him to sign a contract with Decca Records in 1954.
