ABOUT RAYMOND GARLICK

Anglo-Welsh poet and editor who became known for The Welsh-Speaking Sea, Blaenau Observed, and other works. He co-founded the Anglo-Welsh Review in 1949 and edited the journal until 1960.

He converted to Catholicism at the time of his marriage. He also learned the Welsh language from his wife.

His later poetry collections, published in the 1990s and early 2000s, include Travel Notes and The Delphic Voyage.

He was married to Elin Hughes from 1948-1982. The couple adopted two children before Hughes left Garlick for a woman.

He taught at Trinity College, Carmarthen, where he introduced his students to the work of Dylan Thomas .
