ABOUT RAY MEARS
English bushcraft master and TV presenter and author who became famous for hosting the series Ray Mears' Bushcraft.
He published his first survival guide, The Survival Handbook, in 1990.
He was involved in a 2005 helicopter crash that left him and his fellow passengers steeped in gasoline.
His wife, Rachel, died of breast cancer in 2006.
He took actor Ewan McGregor into the Honduran jungle in Ray Mears' Adventure Special in 2001.
