Randolph Braham
ABOUT RANDOLPH BRAHAM
Romanian-born political scientist, historian, and scholar who directed the Rosenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies in New York. Between 1963 and 2013, he published more than ten historical works on the Hungarian Jewish experience of the Holocaust.
He received his Ph.D. in political science in 1952 from New York's New School for Social Research. He subsequently became a Professor of Political Science at the City University of New York.
His political/historical work, The Politics of Genocide: The Holocaust in Hungary, earned him the Jewish National Book Award in 1981.
He was born in Romania and raised in Transylvania. Before immigrating to America in 1948, he was a prisoner in a Soviet Prisoner-of-War camp.
He served as the historical advisor on the Steven Spielberg -produced, Oscar-winning documentary film The Last Days.
