ABOUT RAM JOHN HOLDER
Guyanese-British actor and musician best known for playing Augustus "Porkpie" Grant in the British comedy Desmond's. He later had his own spin-off series, Porkpie. He also appeared in series' such as Casualty , Death in Paradise , Rocket's Island , Holby City and EastEnders . He made a cameo performance as a poet in the 1985 film My Beautiful Laundrette.
He learned to play the guitar. He began his professional career as a singer in New York City. He moved to England in 1962.
He released several albums, including 1969's Black London Blues, and 1971's Bootleg Blues. He contributed to soundtracks for film and television, including the 1970 film Take a Girl Like You. He was in films including 2016's City of Tiny Lights and 2004's The Calcium Kid. As a musician, he uses Spotify as a platform to release songs.
His parents were devout members of the USA-based Pilgrim Holiness Church.
He was in My Beautiful Laundrette which starred Daniel Day-Lewis and Gordon Warnecke.
