ABOUT RALPH BARNES

American journalist who worked during the 1930s as a foreign correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune.

He graduated from Willamette University with a degree in history and later studied economics at Harvard.

He was killed in a 1940 plane crash while en route to Greece to report on Benito Mussolini's invasion of the country.

He grew up in Salem, Oregon as the son of Mabel and Edward Barnes. He later married Esther Parounagian.

He once interviewed renowned aviator Charles Lindbergh .
