American writer who found fame when he became the restaurant critic for The New York Times in 2011. Prior to joining the paper, he was a columnist and editor for both Food & Wine and Details magazines.

He earned his degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986.

He has won multiple James Beard Awards for food writing.

He married well-known novelist Susan Choi.

Fahri Gediz is another popular food critic.
