ABOUT PEDRO MARTINEZ JR

Former professional shortstop that was signed by the Detroit Tigers as an international free agent in May 2018. He played in the Tigers' minor league system from 2018 to 2022. He is the oldest son of Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez .

He began his professional career playing for the Dominican Summer League Tigers. He batted .224 in 147 at-bats that season.

His father was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015. He was a three time Cy Young Award winner, eight time All-Star and World Series champion during his career.

He grew up living with his mother, Carolina, and his three siblings. He has two brothers and one sister. He is of Dominican descent and is a christian.

His father played alongside David Ortíz and Manny Ramírez as a member of the 2004 World Series-winning Boston Red Sox team.
