ABOUT PATRICK WILLIAMS
Composer known for epic, sprawling orchestral pieces like 1986's "Gulliver". He was one of the first popular composers to successfully fuse jazz and classical styles.
He attended Duke University, where he headed the student band Duke Ambassadors.
His piece "An American Concerto", considered his masterpiece by some, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
He had children named Patrick, Elizabeth, and Greer with his wife Catherine.
His famous "Gulliver" piece features narration by M*A*S*H* creator Larry Gelbart .
