ABOUT OAKLEY HALL
An American novelist known for his Legends West books and his Ambrose Bierce series, he published such popular titles as Warlock, The Bad Lands, and Murder City. He also published two non-fiction works about the craft of fiction writing.
After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, he received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the renowned Iowa Writers' Workshop.
He received Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the PEN American Center and the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
He married photographer Barbara Edinger Hall in 1944; they became parents to four children.
He encouraged the literary career of Michael Chabon .
