He attended Limerick Institute of Technology. In 2003, he and an associate founded Impact Media.

In July of 2020, his joe.ie parent company was sold to the investment fund Greencastle Capital.

He was born in Castlebar, County Mayo.

Both he and Pat Shortt attended the Limerick Institute of Technology.
