Nelson Velázquez

ABOUT NELSON VELáZQUEZ

Professional outfielder that was drafted by the Chicago Cubs during the fifth round of the 2017 Major League Draft. He was named the Cubs' tenth ranked MLB prospect in 2021.

Prior to being drafted, he attended P.J. Education High School in Puerto Rico. He originally began his professional career playing for the AZL Cubs. He played in 32 games with the team before being promoted.

He made his official major league debut playing against the Milwaukee Brewers on May 30, 2022. He finished the game hitting 1 for 3.

Growing up, he lived with his family in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

He played alongside Nico Hoerner and Patrick Wisdom during his MLB debut.
