15-time MLB All-Star and Hall of Fame second baseman whose career spanned from 1947 to 1965, most of which for the Chicago White Sox.

He began his career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1947.

He retired with 2,663 hits and a career batting average of .288.

He married Joanne Statler in 1948, and together the couple had two daughters named Tracy and Bonnie.

He was named AL MVP in 1959 while playing for the Chicago White Sox. The following year Roger Maris took his first of two AL MVP Awards.
