ABOUT NEERA TANDEN

Political strategist who has gained fame for her time as the president of the Center for American Progress liberal think tank. She ascended to the role in 2011 after serving as COO, and later served as an advisor to Hillary Clinton during her 2016 bid for president.

She earned her bachelor's degree from UCLA. She later graduated from Yale Law School, and began her career in public policy think tanks immediately following graduation.

She first joined the Center for American Progress as their senior vice president for domestic policy. She has appeared frequently on CNN, MSNBC, and NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.

She has one brother named Raj. Her husband's name is Benjamin.

She met India's then-Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016.
