She lived and wrote in New York City's Ansonia building during her teenage years.

She worked in the 1980s and 1990s as a features editor of Gifts & Decorative Accessories.

She was invited to Hollywood to consult on a screenplay based on her short story; however, her father refused to let her take the trip.

She wrote a short story during her teen years that inspired Anchors Aweigh, a 1945 musical comedy film starring Frank Sinatra , Gene Kelly, and Kathryn Grayson.
