Nasubi
ABOUT NASUBI
Japanese reality star who became famous after entering a televised challenge where he stayed alone in an apartment for Susunu! Denpa Shōnen. The challenge involved him having nothing, not even clothes, surviving only from winnings from mail-in sweepstakes from the magazines he was provided. The challenge was set to end once he amassed ¥1 million. His entire ordeal was livestreamed on Japanese television for over 335 days. He now works as a comedian and stage actor.
He was offered the challenge after winning a "show business related job" lottery.
On the show, he was given the nickname Nasubi, meaning "eggplant," because the broadcasters used a cartoon image of an eggplant to censor his genitals for television. He succeeded in climbing to the top of Mt. Everest after his fourth attempt.
He was born in Fukushima, Japan. His real name is Tomoaki Hamatsu.
He and Marie Kondo are both Japanese reality stars.
