ABOUT MIKE STERN

Known for his work with both Miles Davis' 1980s band and with the jazz-rock group Blood, Sweat & Tears, this Massachusetts-born musician received Guitar Player's #1 jazz guitarist title in 1993.

After studying at the Berklee College of Music, he began performing with jazz drummer Billy Cobham .

He released his first solo album, Upside Downside, in 1986.

He married singer and fellow guitarist Leni Stern. The half-brother of actress Kyra Sedgwick , he was born Michael Sedgwick and later adopted his stepfather's surname.

His second solo jazz album, Time in Place, featured drummer Peter Erskine .
