ABOUT MICHAEL FOREMAN

This Kate Greenaway Medal-winning children's book illustrator worked on more than two hundred publications between the 1960s and the early 2000s. He both illustrated and wrote several books, including Seal Surfer, Jack's Fantastic Voyage, and War Game.

He trained at London's Royal College of Art and subsequently began his career as an illustrator, providing artwork for such early 1960s children's books as The General and Comic Alphabets.

Before becoming an illustrator, he worked briefly as a police artist.

He grew up in a suburb of Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, as the son of a store owner mother.

He illustrated Roald Dahl 's famous book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and its sequel, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.
