ABOUT MICHAEL FARENAS

5'6" Filippino southpaw who became WPBF featherweight champion on October 3, 2009 after defeating Korean boxer Jae-Bong Jang via 9th round TKO.

His first professional fight was on September 19, 2004 against Octavio Olinar. It ended in a draw after two rounds.

He lost a December, 2012 bout to Yuriorkis Gamboa for the interim WBA World Super Featherweight title.

He was born and raised in Sorsogon in the Philippines.

He was trained by former champion Gerry Penalosa .
