ABOUT MERVE AYDIN
Turkish middle distance runner specializing in the 800-meter. She has won a silver medal in the 2008 World Junior Championships and at the 2011 European Athletics Championships. She qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
She first started competing at 14 years old. She competed at the World Championships in 2006.
She received a standing ovation for finishing the 2012 Summer Olympics after she injured herself during the second lap and limped to the finish line in last place.
She was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She attended Anatolian High School.
She and Alysia Montano have both competed in the Olympics as middle distance runners.
