ABOUT MELISSA BISHOP

Canadian middle distance runner who set the national record in the 800 meter event with a time of 1:57.43. She won silver at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Athletics and represented Canada at the Summer Olympics in 2012 and 2016.

She grew up near Lake Doré in Ontario, Canada. She graduated from the University of Windsor.

Her World Championship medal was the first medal ever won by a Canadian woman in the 800 meters.

Her parents are Alison and Doug Bishop.

She and fellow runner Jared Connaughton both represented Canada at the Olympic Games.
