Grammy Award wining American singer known best for being the lead of the music group Soul II Soul.

She released an early single called Rumbled Sex in 1997 on the Elements of Sound record label.

She also worked as the lead singer of the group Soul Explosion which formed in 1999.

She had four children including singer Alexandra Burke , who appeared on the television show The X Factor.

She worked with fellow singer Liza Minnelli .
