Journalist who has gained fame for his contributions to The New York Times Magazine, Fortune as a monthly columnist, and The Atlantic. He has also worked as a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress.
He graduated from Brown University with his B.A. He later earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1986.
He was a long-time co-host of the popular nationally syndicated radio show Left, Right & Center as the center's representative. He has frequently appeared on CNN.
His wife's name is Jacqueline.
He ran unsuccessfully for the 33rd Congressional district in California following Henry Waxman 's retirement in 2014.
