Masataka Yoshida
ABOUT MASATAKA YOSHIDA
Japanese left fielder who originally began his professional baseball career with the Orix Buffaloes of the Nippon Professional Baseball League. During his six-year career with the club, he was a four-time NPB All-Star and a two-time batting title leader. In December 2022, he signed a multi-year deal with the Boston Red Sox .
Prior to his professional career, he played collegiate baseball at Aoyama Gakuin University. After a phenomenal collegiate career, he was taken by Orix as a first-rounder in 2015.
He won a gold medal while playing for Team Japan during the 2023 World Baseball Classic. He recorded a WBC tournament record 13 runs batted in.
Growing up, he lived with his family in Fukui, Japan. He now lives along with his wife and their children.
