ABOUT MARTY WHELAN
Known for his hosting work on several Irish Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) programs, he was also the champion of the 2008 season of the reality series Celebrity Bainisteoir.
Before beginning his broadcast career with Radio Dublin, he worked for half a decade in the insurance industry.
He co-hosted the Irish EuroSong competition and provided RTE commentary for the Eurovision Song Contest.
His marriage to Maria Whelan resulted in two children: Thomas and Jessica.
He was replaced by Ryan Tubridy as the host of the annual Irish Rose of Tralee festival and contest.
