ABOUT MARTíN CHAMBI
Peruvian photographer famous for his photographs of the indigenous people of South and Central America.
He worked alongside his father in a Carabaya Province gold mine.
He was critically well-received and is considered an important photographer as both an artist and historian.
His family were Quechua speaking peasants from a poor region of Peru.
While his contemporary Ansel Adams focused on nature, he preferred photographing the human experience.
