ABOUT MARK THOMPSON

Australian rules football coach and former player nicknamed "Bomber Thompson" who led Geelong to premierships in 2007 and 2009. As a player, he captained Essendon to a premiership in 1993.

He was born in Melbourne and began his fourteen-year career with Essendon in 1983.

He was voted as one of the twenty best Essendon players of all time in the Champions of Essendon list in 2002.

He married a woman named Jana.

He and Tom Hafey have both served as coach of Geelong.
