Mari Hulman George
ABOUT MARI HULMAN GEORGE
One of a long line of Hulman family business owners and philanthropists. Following her father's death and her mother's retirement, she assumed control of both the Hulman & Company grocery chain and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
She attended St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana. Years after her graduation, she founded the college's Mari Hulman George School of Equine Studies.
An animal lover, she donated her time and energy to rescuing greyhounds.
She married race car driver Elmer George in 1957. She and George raised three daughters and one son, as well as several other children from George's first marriage.
Her father, Tony Hulman , purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1945.
