He studied computer engineering at California State University, Long Beach before going on to receive Master's Degree in Computer Science from Drexel University .

He and his siblings were home-schooled by their mother Debra.

He was born and raised in Garden Grove, California, to Debra and Mark McCurdy. In addition to Jennette McCurdy, he has two other siblings: Dustin McCurdy and Scott McCurdy. He and his wife Ellie McCurdy, have a daughter together.

His sister Jennette co-starred in iCarly with Miranda Cosgrove .
