ABOUT LUNGI NGIDI

Highly decorated South African professional cricketer and activist for racial equality within the sport and beyond. He is best known for playing as a bowler for domestic teams such as the Tshwane Spartans and the Northerns of South Africa and the San Francisco Unicorns of Major League Cricket in the United States. He has also competed on the South African national cricket team, including the 2019 squad for the Cricket World Cup.

He was honored with scholarships to attend both Highbury Preparatory School and Hilton College School before going on to earn his bachelor's degree in industrial sociology from the University of Pretoria.

He has achieved numerous accolades throughout his career including being named one of five Cricketers of the Year at the 2018 South African Cricket Annual Awards. He was also honored with the titles of ODI and T20I Cricketer of the Year at the 2020 Cricket South African annual awards ceremony.

Throughout his childhood, his mother served as a domestic worker and his father was employed as a maintenance worker at a nearby school.

He was named on the South African squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, along with teammates such as Faf Du Plessis , Quinton De Kock , and Hashim Amla .
