ABOUT LUKE JAMES

American singer-songwriter who earned a Grammy Award nomination for his 2012 single "I Want You." He has provided background vocals and has written songs for many high profile artists, including Britney Spears and Justin Bieber . He has also starred as Trig on the Showtime series The Chi and in the Amazon anthology series Them .

He joined a musical trio called Upskale while attending high school.

He formed a musical duo called Luke & Q in the beginning of his career and they opened for Tyrese .

He was raised by a single mother in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2014, he began dating pop singer Jessie J , but their relationship ended almost a year later.

He was inspired by many artists while growing up, including singer Willie Nelson .
