ABOUT LUIS DE LA FUENTE
Former professional left back that played primarily in Spain during his 16-year career. He signed his first professional club contract with Spanish La Liga team Athletic Bilbao in 1978. He later became the coach of the Spanish men's national team in December 2022.
He initially joined Athletic Bilbao as a teenager in 1976. He also played for the Spanish international youth team as a teenager.
He made his first official club debut on March 8, 1981 while playing against Valencia CF. He played in exactly 348 matches during his professional club career. Under his coaching, the Spanish team earned the silver medal at the 2020 Olympics.
He was born and raised living with his family in Haro, Spain.
He coached Jordi Alba during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
