Born Ricky Dunigan, he was the co-founder, with his half brother DJ Paul , of the popular 90s rap group Three 6 Mafia.
His first album with the group, Smoked Out Loced Out, was released underground.
He was known for touching dark themes - suicide, torture and monsters - with a laid-back flair.
He and his brother both grew up popular rappers around their neighborhood.
Juicy J was another member of Three 6 Mafia.
