Lisel Mueller
ABOUT LISEL MUELLER
Award-winning poet whose best-known works include The Need to Hold Still and The Private Life. The former work received the National Book Award for Poetry in 1981.
She lived in Germany until age fifteen. After immigrating to the United States, she graduated from the University of Evansville.
She was awarded the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Alive Together: New & Selected Poems.
With her husband, Paul Mueller, she had two daughters.
She was influenced by the work of Robert Browning .
