ABOUT LIL TROY

Notable for his 1998 Platinum album Sittin Fat Down South and for his Billboard Hot 100 single "Wanna Be a Baller," this southern rapper began his rise to fame after establishing Short Stop Records in the late 1980s.

Before beginning his music career, he led a life of crime. Shortly after joining a hip hop group called Mass 187 and before beginning his solo career, he was imprisoned for nearly a year on drug dealing charges.

His second solo album, Back to Ballin, rose to number 24 on U.S. hip hop charts.

Born Troy Lane Birklett, he grew up in Houston, Texas.

He and Chamillionaire are both rappers from Houston.
