ABOUT LEON SPINKS
Former boxer who won the heavyweight championship from Muhammad Ali on February 15, 1978. He won a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, competing in the light heavyweight class. The year before, he earned a silver medal at the Pan American Games.
He won his first professional fight in 1977, knocking out Bob Smith in the fifth round.
His career record was twenty-six wins, seventeen losses, and three draws. In 1974, he won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Havana, Cuba.
His brother Michael was also a boxer.
He went 1-1 overall in his career against the great Muhammad Ali .
