ABOUT LAURIE JOHNSON
Most well known for his television scores, this English composer wrote the theme songs for The Avengers, This Is Your Life, and Animal Magic, and penned the hit single "Sucu Sucu." Also a cinematic composer, he wrote scores for the films Tiger Bay, The Moonraker, and Dr. Strangelove.
Before beginning his career as a composer, he trained at London's Royal College of Music and served in the British Army.
With his music group The London Big Band, he recorded a UK Singles Chart-ranked version of his "Theme from 'The Professionals.'"
Born Laurence Reginald Ward Johnson, he grew up in Hampstead, England.
British jazz pianist Stan Tracey was featured on Johnson's Symphony: Synthesis album.
