World Golf Hall of Fame member who won 19 PGA Tours and three major championships.
He was a standout baseball player in his youth, picking up golf only after returning from the Vietnam War.
He was the only golfer to go 5-0 in one Ryder Cup competition, when only five matches were allowed.
He grew up in Fort Payne, Alabama.
He was first introduced to the game by reading Ben Hogan 's Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf.
