ABOUT LARRY GRAYSON
TV host whose career peaked during the 1980s, after hosting a series of successful programs, including "The Generation Game" on the BBC. He also starred in the shows Shut Tat Door! and the Larry Grayson Show.
He never met his father and was raised by his mother; when he was 14, he dropped out of school to work in various comedy clubs, where he appeared in drag.
He became one of the first comedians to adopt something of a gay persona during his performances.
He never married a woman, but also never identified a male partner in the media; little was known about his sexuality.
He and journalist Martine Dennis were both affiliated with the BBC during their respective careers.
