ABOUT KODAI SENGA

Major league starting pitcher and former Olympian who won gold at the 2020 Summer Olympics as a member of the Japanese men's national team. He first began his professional baseball career with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, winning five Japan Series championships while also becoming a multi-time Pacific League strikeout leader and NPB All-Star. In December 2022, he signed a multi-year deal with the New York Mets .

As a kid, he often played third base. He actually didn't start pitching until middle school.

He made his official major league debut while pitching against the Miami Marlins on April 2, 2023. He struck out eight batters in just over 5 innings.

He grew up living with his family in Gamagōri, Japan.

He played alongside Justin Verlander as a member of the Mets during the 2023 MLB season.
