ABOUT KIANA HAYERI

Iranian photographer and documentary filmmaker who is known for her work throughout Tehran and Afghanistan. Her topics range from migration to adolescence and sexuality and she shares her work both through her website and through Instagram for her over 170,000 followers.

She first started earning recognition for her photography in 2011 when she was named an IAAB fellow. That same year she also completed a CIS artists residency at MIT University.

In addition to being a TED fellow, she is also known for having her work published in several press outlets such as the Washington Post, Sunday Times Magazine, and Le Monde.

She was born and raised in Tehran, Iran but left for Toronto as a teenager where she was raised.

Other photographers who are also known for being TED fellows and for giving lectures include Isadora Kosofsky and Thomas Peschak .
