Right-handed first baseman who was part of the memorable 2004 World Series champion Boston Red Sox that broke the franchise's 86-year curse.

He graduated from University High School in Los Angeles.

He made his MLB debut in 1998 for the Florida Marlins.

He raised four children.

He was teammates with Curt Schilling , who pitched through a nasty ankle injury to help the Red Sox win the 2004 World Series.
