ABOUT KENT TWITCHELL
Muralist best known for his large-scale depictions of celebrities that aspired to realism, not photorealism. The destruction of his mural "The Freeway Lady" led to a 1992 court battle that resulted in legal protection of murals as public art.
He studied art at California State University-Los Angeles and at Otis College of Art and Design.
He painted "The King of Pop", a mural in honor of Michael Jackson , following the pop star's tragic death.
He was born in Michigan to farmer Robert Twitchell and later settled with his family in Northern California.
He painted a mural of Steve McQueen .
