ABOUT KELLY LANGE

Remembered for being the first female nightly news anchor in Los Angeles, she also served as a co-host for the Tournament of Roses parade and later became a mystery novel writer.

She initially moved to the west coast with the intention of being a school teacher and happened to stumble into a career of journalism when she was selected in a radio giveaway to patrol the skies to report traffic and weather.

As a member of the KNBC-TV nightly news team, she won several Emmy Awards.

She was born in New York City and moved out to Los Angeles in the mid-1960s.

She was married to film director William Friedkin from 1987 to 1990.
