ABOUT JYOTIRMOYEE SIKDAR

Middle-distance runner who won gold at the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1998, and at the 1995 Asian Athletics Championships.

She was born in the Nadia district of West Bengal.

She became a member of Indian Parliament and was affiliated with the Communist Party of India.

Her husband was arrested on charges of running a sex racket in Kolkata.

She and singer Kumar Sanu both received the Padma Shri civilian award from the Indian government.
