ABOUT JUDITH JAMISON
Renowned dancer and choreographer who served as Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. She has received many awards and much recognition, including the Kennedy Center Honors in 1999 and the National Medal of Arts in 2001.
At age six, she began training in dance at the Judimar School of Dance.
She took a break from being artistic director to form her own group of dancers, called The Jamison Project. She was honored with the Handel Medallion in 2010.
She grew up in Philadelphia with her parents and older brother.
She once danced alongside Mikhail Baryshnikov .
