ABOUT JOSEPH BENAVIDEZ
American MMA fighter nicknamed Joe B-Wan Kenobi. He turned professional in 2006 and began competing at the flyweight, bantamweight and featherweight levels.
He won two football state Championships while playing for Las Cruces High School.
He won 16 of his first 19 professional fights, 8 coming by way of submission.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas.
He defeated Jeff Curran via unanimous decision at WEC 40 on April 5, 2009.
