By the time she was a teenager, she had appeared in both music hall and pantomime performances. She made her London West End theater debut in a 1908 production of The Antelope.
She starred in the 1933 British musical film Facing the Music.
She grew up in London as the daughter of Lottie Collins, a music hall performer.
She performed with Ann Pennington in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1913.
