ABOUT JONSI BIRGISSON
Born Jon Birgisson and better known by his stage name 'Jonsi,' this post rock guitarist and singer rose to fame as a member of the Icelandic band Sigur Ros. His unique musical talents include singing in a countertenor register and strumming the guitar using a bow made for a cello.
In the mid 1990s, he was the lead singer of a band called Bee Spiders. He released Von, his first album with Sigur Ros, in 1997.
As the result of a severed optic nerve, he was born without vision in his right eye.
Openly gay, he has been in a relationship with longtime partner and musician Alex Somers.
He collaborated with DJ Tiesto on a 2009 track titled "Kaleidoscope."
