Johnny Bright
ABOUT JOHNNY BRIGHT
Running back and linebacker who was the 5th overall pick in the 1952 NFL draft, but chose instead to play in the CFL, where he was the 1959 Most Outstanding Player.
He was an All-American at Drake University.
He is best remembered for the "Johnny Bright Incident," where he was intentionally beat up during a college football game for racial reasons.
He was married until his death, and had four children.
He is considered the best player in the history of Drake University, which has produced NFL players such as Billy Cundiff .
